Forecast: 2024 Smartphone Camera Shipments to Grow 3.8% to 4.22 Billion Units
According to the latest report by research firm TrendForce, amidst the backdrop of an increase in the number of cameras on high-end smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, global smartphone camera shipments are expected to grow by 3.8% in 2024, reaching approximately 4.22 billion units.
In terms of current smartphone camera trends, the overall setup still includes a primary camera with 49 to 64 million pixels, accompanied by two auxiliary cameras. Recent hardware upgrades in smartphones, besides the incorporation of periscopic lens modules, also include the adoption of glass-plastic hybrid lens solutions to enhance color reproduction and reduce chromatic aberration.
